When we moved into this house, I knew it had amazing bones. I saw what it could become, and I knew we needed to call it ours. We started with the main living areas, and did the bedrooms from there. But when it came time to get to our master bathroom I decided we should wait until we could afford to gut it, because unlike the rest of our home, our master bath did not have good bones. 2.5 years later, I still disliked our master bath…and decided to refresh the space until we can afford to gut it in the future.
Here is the REAL before photos of our space:
I know, I know…It was less than charming. My towel couldn’t even hang on the tiny towel rack with Elliots…so I left it to dry on the edge of the tub like a monster.
With that said, let’s cue the bathroom refresh!
I started this project by removing everything from the walls, towel racks included. Then my little helper and I worked to fill in holes to prep for the new coat of paint.
Then it was time to paint! I went with Repose Gray from Sherwin Williams and used these great towel racks from Amazon so that two towels could be hung instead of just one (I know, it is a brilliant concept).
After painting the bathroom walls and hanging the new towel racks, I added some functional storage to the counters, and ordered these amazing lights from Wayfair.
When it comes to wall décor, I wanted something meaningful. I hired FoxANDFin to create line drawings of all the places Elliot and I have called home over the last 12 years. She had a lot of work to do (since moving was a hobby for a while), and she knocked it out of the park.
How cool is this bathroom gallery wall?
Refreshing our bathroom was a fun project that was SO necessary. What space should I refresh next?
